San Diego is Running out of Water

One
of the most serious problems in San Diego is water scarcity. Although the city
currently has enough clean water for
the community’s basic needs, like drinking, washing, and watering crops, the
supply exceeds the demand as the population grows. One of the main causes of
the water
shortage is the lack of rain. According to the UCSD Center for
Environmental Economics, “75%
of the state's rainfall is north of Sacramento, while 75% of the state's water
demand lives south of Sacramento.” Another cause of the problem is San
Diego’s water supplies. The Colorado River, one of San Diego’s main water
sources, is expected to run out of water. UC San Diego News Center reports that
the Colorado River reservoir is expected to go dry in the next 20 years if
global warming continues and people continue to use a lot of water. In sum,
water scarcity is a serious problem San Diego is facing, and it will have
