Air pollution in Japan
by Satoko takemura, Han wook kim

One of the most serious problems in Japan is air pollution. According to the Encyclopedia of the Nations, “Japan had the world's fourth highest level of industrial carbon dioxide emissions, which totaled 1.09 billion metric tons per year, a per capita level of 8.79 metric tons per year.” Chronic bronchitis and routine cold from smog have become the biggest diseases for the Japanese.

The main cause of the air pollution is using motor vehicles. According to a study by Webjapan, 80% of the nitrogen oxides were made by cars. In sum, air pollution is the serious problem in Japan, and it keeps people from healthy lives.
